The CorneliOS webOS

CorneliOS is a web based OS (aka "Web OS") that runs in your web browser. All applications and files are stored on the CorneliOS server and are accessible all the time and anywhere. CorneliOS is platform and browser independent and is available as free Open Source software under the GPL as well as under a commercial license.

CorneliOS is a multi-user system, which means that multiple Web OS users can have an account on a single CorneliOS server. Each Web OS user has its own home directory and his own desktop and workspace. To make sharing and protecting files and directories possible, CorneliOS offers a virtual file system (VFS) offering many advanced features, including access control and automated backup mechanisms.

CorneliOS applications are basically small websites using the CorneliOS CORA framework and CorneliOS technologies such as CornelioSCRIPT and extended HTML tags. Writing CorneliOS applications is quite simple.

You may also use CorneliOS as an application framework to build your own standalone web applications or community platforms. The built-in CIOS framework allows to quite create complex community projects.

CorneliOS is being developed using agile methods inspired by Scrum and Extreme Programming (XP), and most of the development is test driven. The current CorneliOS software is distributed as "Developer Preview TWO" (DP2) and still alpha/beta code. It is not intended for end users yet.
